The Northeastern University Center for Family Business recently named Mark’s Moving & Storage as a finalist for its annual Family Business of the Year Award. The company won the award in 2014.
“It’s an honor to be selected by the center,” said Mark Silverman, president and CEO of Mark’s Moving & Storage. “There are many successful family businesses in Massachusetts and we’re grateful for the recognition.”
The university’s Center for Family Business will announce the 2019 award winners on June 12 . The award is given to family businesses across the state. For the last 13 years, recipients of the award have been selected by a panel of independent judges based on criteria including business success, positive business and family linkages and contributions to the community.
Mark’s Moving & Storage is a frequent supporter of community charities and non-profit organizations. In addition to receiving a Community Business Leader Award this year from the Corridor 9/495 Regional Chamber of Commerce, the company recently:
- Donated services to benefit the United Way of Tri-County.
- Provided transportation for the Needham Harvest Fair.
- Committed to free moving and storage services for the Jewish Family & Children’s Service.
- Supported Project Graduation in Westborough.
- Helped move Mother’s Day baskets for women in need.
- Donated services to Cradles to Crayons.
- Sponsored a fundraiser for cancer patients.
- Partnered with Needham Youth and Family Services for “Make a Statement Day.”
