Mark’s Moving & Storage recently sponsored Needham High School’s annual Make a Statement Day.

For one day each year, all students, faculty and administrators at the high school are encouraged to wear a homemade t-shirt with a statement, quotation, or statistic about an issue of importance to them. Mark’s Moving & Storage is the primary sponsor of the program.

“This is a great way for the students to express themselves and to make a statement about what matters to them,” said Mark E. Silverman, president and CEO of Mark’s Moving & Storage. “We’re happy to help each year.”

Students and staff made their shirts on March 9 and wore them to school the following day. Quotes written on the shirts included:

  • “You’re not supposed to do this perfectly. You don’t do life perfectly. No one does.”
  • “Shine bright like a diamond.”
  • “Information is the currency of democracy.”

Needham Youth Services works with the high school to coordinate the program each year.

“The whole point is to acknowledge that students have something to say and what they have to say is important,” said Jon Mattleman, director of Needham Youth Services. “We want to give them a vehicle to say what they feel.”
