Happy Earth Day! Here’s How Mark’s Moving is Staying Green

April 22 2017

Today is Earth Day, an annual event celebrated on April 22, to promote environmental awareness and sustainability. Mark’s Moving & Storage is doing its part to help keep the world clean and green. Here are a few ways Mark’s Moving is working to honor Earth Day every day.

Highway Sponsorships

Those driving on Route 9 in Westborough may have seen the sign. Mark’s Moving supports the Adopt-A-Highway program, contributing to the clean up of more than 21,000 miles of roadways in 2016. The program helped collect 96,026 bags of litter — that’s 3,200 tons! — and clean enough roadways to cross the country seven times.

Mark’s Northeastern Furniture Foundation

Mark Silverman, president and CEO of Mark’s Moving, founded Mark’s Northeastern Furniture Foundation to not only help those in need of home furnishings, but to also keep reusable furniture out of landfills. The foundation has saved more than 44,000 cubic feet of furniture from the trash. The Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce honored the foundation last year with its Green Initiative Award.

Commitment to Sustainability

As an active member and contributor to charities throughout the region, Mark’s Moving supports many environment-focused organizations, such as the U.S. Green Chamber of Commerce, the Sustainable Business Network of Massachusetts and the Forest Stewardship Council.
